'Beatgroup Wem', 'Group Wem' or just 'Wem'. L2R: Frans Wesselink (Keyboards), Ferry van Buuren (Drums), Eddy de Mol (Vocals and Guitar) and Max Houkes (Bass).
Oh yeah, also 'Wem' had it own means of transportation. 'Sprayed' in Flower Power style and colour.
Anyone in The Hague was aware of the 'Little Come In' at Spui (#246!). A space behind this bar, used to be the rehearsal room of both 'Marcus Soultrain' and 'The Incrowd'.

Some posters, flyers and other fun stuff

Well, wishful thinking. I (Han/editor) had this large A2 sized poster made ... somewhere.
Uilenstede/Amstelveen (next to Amsterdam).
Marathon/The Hague. This turned out to be the final gig with Gerard Haitsma ... for the first time.
De Adelaar/Hattem (near Zwolle). The first and last time, we have travelled with that way too small VW bus. Manager Ger Reitsma had the thing bought, but he had no clue concerning the volume of LAVA's equipment. Three quarters of that had to be stuffed into other (saloon) cars. Also the complete Staff had to figure out themselves how to get to Hattem. And home! Consequently, the LAVA party arrived with 10 cars or so. The organisation must have thought they had booked Led Zeppelin!
Lodewijk Makeblijde College (LMC)/Rijswijk. At some point in afternoon time. This was the very first one. Within a few months, LAVA had visted all highschools of Rijswijk (The Hague suburb).
REHOBOTH/Berkel & Rodenrijs (between The Hague and Rotterdam). We have the pictures! Check 'History' and Gerrit's and Han's scrapbooks.
Don Bosco/Rijswijk. Open Air Festival.
Clipping from the local newspaper 'Groot Rijswijk' reporting on the Open Air Festival at Don Bosco. Almost solely LAVA pictures used for illustrations.
Boerenvreugd/Aalsmeer (close to Amsterdam). Oh yeah. Once a farm, at that time occupied by squatters. Today on that spot one can find a children's play-farm.
(The name of that place must have been, most likely) Poort van Kleef/Apeldoorn. One of the six (!) gigs that weekend, which started at Friday night. Then this one followed on Saturday afternoon. More shows on Saterday night, Sunday morning early (04:00!), Sunday evening and Monday evening.
Sporthal Margriet/Schiedam (next to Rotterdam). In fact this one, was the one on early Sunday morning around 04:00. On top of that, the organisation was no longer able to pay the bills at that point in time of their Festival. Nevertheless, LAVA decided to climb the stage and rocked like never before. More than very much appreciated by the massive crowd still present and almost completely asleep. It must have been the loudest wake-up call ever!
Marathon/The Hague. Not only the final show of 'the summer season', but also the final concert of an unforgettable and exhausting weekend. We loved it!
N.V. Huis (Home Inc.)/Utrecht. A 'Vietnam Manifestation' once again. LAVA was scheduled for the afternoon. Great place, it had a podium on either side of the hall. Very dynamic. While one band was performing on one podium, on the second one two more were trading places. We had a little argument with a weird person of another band and we made sure he never thought of doing that again! Hey, we had Willem!
Arnoldus Hoeve/Hoofddorp (next to Amsterdam). As so often when Aad Versteeg took over LAVA's management, this was a 'double' weekend. This time two shows on the same day. No problem.
Verenigingsgebouw/Stolwijk (South of Gouda). The support act wasn't the Lucifer having a major hit with the song 'House for Sale'!
LANX/Amsterdam Centre. Over the years LAVA have performed in this huge building owned by the Student association carrying the same name. A great place for a gig, once on the podium. In order to get there, however, we needed to lift all hardware up to the second floor ... manually! We had to conquer two impossible long and steep stairways. Yip, at the end of workout it did feel like a 'Stairway to Heaven' indeed! Again and again.
Sarasani/Texel. Den Burg, on The Dutch Isle 'Texel'. A cosy place! Once the show had been completed, the final ferry to Den Helder (main land) was already gone. The truck had only two places available. LAVA Staff simply slept on the podium before taking a shower and heading home the next morning.
Sarasani/De Burg/Texel. On September 4-6, a gigantic Open Air 'Reunion Festival' took place. The organisation learned too late about LAVA still performing and there was no room left in the program once they discovered it was. A real pity. Well, LAVA has been put on a list and will be the very first one in case of a withdrawal. At the same time of this Festival a (history) book of this place Sarasani has been issued.
